Children and Youth workshops begin at The Jacobs Center

Mind Treasures began working with the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation (JCNI) in South East San Diego in April 2008. Through the generosity of many individuals and corporations, 12 children and Jr. Youth attended the first program at the Market Creek Plaza where they learned to develop their character traits and use them in their daily financial lives.

In addition to the children, parents also enjoyed reading about what their children were learning in class and how to implement the learning in their family life. Many parents indicated that they would be interested in attending adult programs offered by Mind Treasures.

After completing the first class at JCNI (April 2008), Marquis Snowden, a 4th grade student, along with a few of his friends, decided to take philanthropic actions and raise funds to help with the purchase of a climbing wall for the kindergartners at his schools. In fall of 2009, when Marquis learned that due to drastic budget cuts at his school district, he was not going to be able to attend the 6th grade camp, he took on a new challenge to raise enough funds so every 6th grader in his school district can attend the 2010 summer camp. Please contact us if you would like to help Marquis reach this praiseworthy goal.
